How the show works
However you'd like to take part — looking, entering, judging, teaching or sponsoring — here is the whole thing in the order it happens, in plain words. You don't need to have entered a show before, and you don't need to know any of our words to follow along.
Our words, explained
Five phrases you'll see on this site
- Room brief
- A short note from one of the designers describing their real room — its colours, its size and the mood they want. It's the starting point for your quilt.
- First Glance
- The first round. Judges look at every entry and say yes or no to it moving on. A no isn't a comment on you as a maker.
- Grading
- The second round. The quilts that moved on get scored on things like colour, craft and how well they suit the room.
- People's Choice
- The public vote. Anyone with a free account can pick one favourite while the show floor is open.
- Anonymous judging
- Judges never see who made a quilt — no names, no social handles. Everyone is looked at the same way.
Every quilting method is welcome — hand, domestic machine or longarm; pieced, appliqué, wholecloth, improv, art or mixed-media. No style scores higher than another.

Always free, takes about a minute, and it's what lets you vote, save quilts and book lecture seats. You pick which emails you get, and you can change your mind any time.

Wait for the doors to open
The show floor stays closed until public voting opens. That moment is the start of the show — every approved quilt appears at once, photographed and hung in its room.

Walk the floor
Wander room by room at your own pace, open any quilt at life size, read the maker's own words, and save the ones you love. There's no wrong way to look.

Cast your People's Choice vote
One vote per account, for the whole edition. You can change it any time until voting closes.

Come to the reveal
The awards ceremony happens live on Zoom. Winners publish on the call, and the People's Choice result is announced there too.

After the ceremony the marketplace opens. Quilts marked for sale can be bought straight from the maker, and you can commission new work.
